Running back Antonio Gibson only had 18 yards rushing in the first half but made a big impact in the passing game, catching four passes for 65 yards.

Washington’s defense has struggled at times, especially the cornerbacks, but Jacksonville quarterback Trevor Lawrence missed a wide-open touchdown on the Jaguars’ first drive and running back Travis Etienne later dropped one in which he would’ve scored.

Washington safety Darrick Forrest, making his first NFL start in place of Kam Curl, made two impact plays before halftime to keep the Jaguars off the scoreboard.

Commanders defensive tackle Jonathan Allen had two tackles for loss and one sack in the first half.

Washington will receive the second-half kickoff.
