Commanders have top 30 visit planned with Florida guard O’Cyrus Torrence

The Washington Commanders were active on the first week of free agency, addressing needs and keeping key players in the burgundy and gold.

One need for Washington is the offensive line. The Commanders added help on the first day of the legal tampering period this week, signing a pair of offensive linemen in Nick Gates and Andrew Wylie.

The Commanders formally met around 20 offensive linemen at the NFL combine, using almost half of their visits along the O-line. One of those formal visits occurred with Florida Gators guard O’Cyrus Torrence.

Torrence, a 6-foot-5, 330-pound powerhouse, began his college career at Louisiana before following his head coach, Billy Napier, to Florida in 2022. Playing in the SEC certainly raised Torrence’s profile.

In addition to Washington meeting with Torrence at the combine, the Commanders will also use one of 30 pre-draft visits with Torrence, according to Justin Melo of The Draft Network. Even with Washington adding two veteran linemen, adding more help along the offensive line remains a priority.

Torrence is exclusively a guard, and if he was the pick for Washington in the first round, he’d likely be the left guard in 2023.

The Commanders are also using a top-30 visit on Ohio State offensive tackle Dawand Jones.
