Commanders a logical landing spot for suspended Packers WR?

Every time a wide receiver wants out of his current situation or is unhappy, people connect the dots about where he should go next.

First, Brandon Aiyuk, then Davante Adams. While Aiyuk eventually received a long-term deal with the 49ers, Adams still expects to be traded.

Now, we have another name to add to the list: Packers WR Romeo Doubs. The Packers suspended Doubs for one game on Saturday for conduct detrimental to the team. Doubs reportedly missed two practices last week.

And every time, the Washington Commanders come up in the conversation about being a logical landing spot.

Tyler Sullivan of CBS Sports named six logical landing spots for Doubs, and of course, the Commanders were one of them.

Terry McLaurin is the top dog in the Washington receiver room, but the Commanders could certainly use another player of Doubs’ caliber. Beyond McLaurin, the club has receivers Luke McCaffrey, Olamide Zaccheaus, Dyami Brown and Noah Brown (out Week 5 with a groin injury). With Jayden Daniels bursting onto the scene as a rookie sensation, it could propel the Commanders to invest in this team right away by giving them a boost on offense as they currently sit atop the NFC East entering Week 5.

The 6-foot-2 Doubs is under contract for the remainder of this season and next. A 2022 fourth-round pick, Doubs caught 59 passes for 674 yards and eight touchdowns last season. This season, he leads Green Bay receivers in snaps played and has 12 receptions for 169 yards and is reportedly unhappy with his role.

Would he be a fit for Washington? If he’s unhappy with his role in Green Bay, he may be unhappier in Washington. Rookie quarterback Jayden Daniels spreads the ball around, and all of the Commanders’ pass catchers are unselfish, led by Terry McLaurin.

Doubs is not coming to Washington to replace McLaurin. He’d slot in with Noah Brown, Olamide Zaccheaus and Luke McCaffrey. That’s probably not what he’s looking for, which makes him and the Commanders an unlikely marriage.
