Comic Relief stars are sharing their favourite jokes through Alexa ahead of Red Nose Day. To get in the Red Nose Day spirit, users of the Amazon device can now say “Alexa, tell me a Comic Relief joke” to hear a gag read by one of this year’s Comic Relief celebrity supporters.
They include Adam Thomas, Seann Walsh, Sindhu Vee, Greg James, Jay Blades and Vicky Pattison as well as the charity’s co-founder, Sir Lenny Henry. To buy this year's Red Nose, designed by Sir Jony Ive, say “Alexa, add a Comic Relief Red Nose to my basket”.
Users can then follow the audible or on-screen instructions to check out. The experience is available on Alexa enabled devices including Echo, Fire TV and the Alexa mobile app in the UK.
Dennis Stansbury, Amazon Alexa Country Manager, said: "We are so glad to see Alexa is cracking smiles in aid of Red Nose Day with the help of a few famous faces. There's still plenty of time for customers to get involved by asking Alexa for a joke or to order a Red Nose. So far, my favourite joke has been “What do you call a grizzly with no teeth?” read by Lenny Henry. It’s a guaranteed giggle."
Samir Patel, CEO of Comic Relief, added: “We love nothing more than raising smiles while we raise money, and are delighted to have Alexa on board helping to bring more Red Nose Day joy and laughter into homes across the UK."
Red Nose Day itself will take place on Friday, March 17.
