Comedian Bob Mortimer has revealed he's unwell after a health scare. The 63-year-old spoke about his recent health problems on a podcast.
Talking on Richard Herring's Leicester Square Theatre Podcast in London, Bob said he was taken to hospital on Saturday. As reported by TeessideLive, he said: "I am not very well. I am not very healthy at the moment."
The comic - who had triple heart bypass surgery in 2015 - said he had been working on a fishing show last week which involved two and half days of filming. "I did it Tuesday, Wednesday and half of Thursday and I was in hospital on the Saturday," he said.
"I'm sorry I shouldn't have said that should I? It's a real downer."
The Middlesbrough-born star is said to have also discussed having rheumatoid arthritis and his diagnosis 40 years ago. He explained he had been free of the condition since he was in his thirties but it came back earlier this month.
During the filming of the podcast, he said. "It is really sad for me to know whether it will go. Yes I might be fat but actually I am on steroids."
Bob has been open about his health in the past, having undergone a triple heart bypass surgery in 2015. He has since spoken about how it changed his perspective on life.
A few years ago he said: "It changes how you feel about things and you become a lot more aware of your health. It gives you a kick up the backside and gets things in perspective."
Bob appears alongside comedy partner Paul Whitehouse, 64, in the BBC series Gone Fishing - which returned for its fifth series recently. You can catch up via the BBC iPlayer now.
