Controversial comedian Jerry Sadowitz's Lanarkshire show will still go ahead despite claims of him flashing and making racial remarks on stage at the weekend.
Jerry Sadowitz was due to perform for the second time at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival on Saturday before the show was cancelled due to a number of complaints from the night before.
The 60-year-old allegedly used racist language and is said to have exposed himself to a female audience member.
He later apologised to anyone who had travelled to see him on Saturday before continuing to promote upcoming shows.
One of those is scheduled for Hamilton Town House on October 7. And as things stand, it will go ahead as planned.
Hosts South Lanarkshire Leisure and Culture (SLLC), say they are aware of the current controversy surrounding Sadowitz and, having discussed the matter with the Scots comic's promoters, are "satisfied" his performance in Hamilton will not be affected.
A SLLC spokesman told Lanarkshire Live : "We cannot comment on allegations - we are not considering cancelling the show.
"As a licenced premises, we are working closely with the promoter to ensure that no licensing conditions will be breached. The show has been advertised as 'over 18’s only,' with 'very strong language'."
At the weekend, the Pleasance venue in Edinburgh where Sadowitz performed, released a statement saying the material was "not acceptable" and "does not align with our values".
When asked if the recent matter could conflict with the values of the Lanarkshire venue, the SLLC spokesperson continued: "We do not condone racism in any form.
"Not every production we stage will be popular with all sections of the community, but we strive to offer something for everyone.
"We would expect all artists to perform within the standards set out in our Public Entertainment Licence."
SLLC have since held discussions with the comedian's promoter, Regular Music, and have confirmed the Hamilton show will go ahead as scheduled.
They added: "We have discussed the situation with the promoter and are satisfied the show can go ahead as planned.
"We have previously hosted Jerry Sadowitz’s show in 2011 at Rutherglen Town Hall without incident."
Sadowitz took to social media on Sunday to speak on the situation after Saturday's show was cancelled.
He said: "I don't wish to humiliate the Pleasance, but they are doubling down on their position and I don't want to be made the victim of that.
"I did a 75-minute show for 600 people that went pretty well and left with no hint of anything going wrong.
"In addition to now being told there were multiple walkouts and ‘abuse of staff’ my act is now being cheapened and simplified as unsafe, homophobic, misogynistic and racist.
"A lot of thought goes into my shows and while I don’t always get it right, especially at the speed of which I speak - and I don’t always agree with my own conclusions - I am offended by those who, having never seen me before, hear words being shouted in the first five minutes before storming out without listening to the material which I am stupid enough to believe is funny, sometimes important and worth saying.”
Over 700 customers have purchased tickets for this event.
