Comedian Peter Kay wowed crowds at the Ivor Novello Awards after making a rare public appearance on Thursday night (May 19). The Bolton star was pictured on stage at the awards by TV historian Lucy Worsley, who shared the image to her Twitter page.
She captioned the picture with: "And is that REALLY Peter Kay??? And yet ..." The image marks what is a rare appearance for the Phoenix Nights star, who has remained largely out of the public eye in recent years.
Peter was seen looking dapper in a two-piece grey suit as he addressed the crowds at the awards event. The Ivor Novello Awards are rewarded to artists by The Ivor Academy for exceptional songwriting and composition.

Since his last tour in 2011, Peter has only appeared at special events and has been rarely seen in public since. The comic was also set to tour in 2018, but suddenly pulled the plug on all 100 dates of the sold out Peter Kay Live Arena Tour shows months before due to 'unforeseen family circumstances'.
It was last month that the comedian made a joyous return to the stage to host his Dance For Life part at Manchester Central. The three-hour spectacular, which was reviewed by the M.E.N saw crowds take part in a 'dance-a-thon' to the likes of Abba and S Club to raise money for Cancer Research UK.
And also last month, he was the guest of honour as he helped launch a new wheelchair-accessible 'wheelyboat' at the Anderton Centre, near Chorley, on Saturday April 23.
