Scots comedian Kevin Bridges has announced that he has written his first ever novel and that it'll be hitting bookshops across the UK later this year.
Taking to Instagram to share the news with his 97.9k followers, Kevin said: "Exciting news, I can finally reveal what I've been up to during lockdown! During the many months and hours when the world was sentenced to some time inside, I managed to start a novel and finish a novel and the good people at Wildfire Books have decided to publish it.
"An actual book, a proper full on book man - bonkers. The book is called The Black Dog - it'll be released in August this year."
The news has raked in thousands of likes since it was shared this morning and in a follow-up post Bridges shared the novel's premise.
What is Kevin Bridges' new book The Black Dog about?
Declan dreams of becoming a writer. It's a dream that helps him escape the realities of his life - going through the motions at college and stacking supermarket shelves part-time, whilst fighting a battle with the ever-darkening thoughts in his head.
He has his pet Labrador for companionship and his best friend-turned-mentor, a pseudo-intellectual who works as greenskeeper at the local municipal golf course, both of which help keep the worst of his anxieties at bay. But following a drunken row with local gangsters, Declan's worries threaten to spiral out of control.
James Cavani - Declan's idol and his hometown's claim to fame - he's a renowned writer, director and actor. But despite his success, his past hasn't relinquished its hold of him, and through his younger sister's battle with drug addiction, he finds himself returning to a world he thought he had escaped.
At face value, their lives couldn't be more different, but perhaps fate has a way of bringing kindred spirits together - and perhaps each holds the other's redemption in their hands.
The Black Dog will be published 18th August by Wildfire Books - it can be pre-ordered here.
