Comedian Joanne McNally has opened up about her “horrible” panic attack live on stage last week after consuming a concoction of energy drinks and wine before the gig.
The Dubliner, who is currently on her sold-out nationwide tour The Prosecco Express, said she has learned a lesson from the incident, which caused her to cut the show short.
The 38-year-old added: “I took a turn where I felt like I was kind of not in my own body and I didn’t know what I was going to say next.
“I had half a bottle of white wine and three cans of energy drink in the space of 40 minutes before I went on stage. So I’m guessing that was part of it.” Joanne said she felt the “turn” coming on when she stepped on stage at the gig in the Everyman Theatre in Cork.
Speaking to Ryan Tubridy on RTE Radio 1 yesterday, she revealed: “It was horrible... my hands start shaking and I lose my words and I don’t know where I am in the show.
“I was in the middle of this completely out-of-body experience.
“I didn’t know what I was going to do, didn’t know what I’d said, what was going to come next.
“But I learned my lesson. I have a lot of shows to do, I’m pretty much gigging every night and so the energy drinks are gone now, so I’m learning as I go.”
