Columbia University officials issued a warning on Tuesday regarding an encampment on campus that is in violation of university rules. While school leaders have not disclosed specific disciplinary actions, they emphasized that the safety of the community is their top priority.

During a press conference on Tuesday afternoon, university spokesperson Ben Chang stated, 'The safety of our community is our number one priority. That includes the safety of the encampment that continues to grow. We are watching this closely.'

According to Chang, university officials engaged in discussions with student organizers until 2 am ET on Tuesday to address the situation. He emphasized that while Columbia students have the right to protest, they are not permitted to disrupt campus life or engage in harassment and intimidation towards fellow students and community members.

Chang also mentioned that acts of vandalism, reports of harassment, and discrimination have been documented during the ongoing protest. However, specific details regarding student suspensions and disciplinary actions have not been disclosed, as Chang stated that 'disciplinary actions continue' on campus.
