Colts to re-sign WR Ashton Dulin

The Indianapolis Colts are re-signing pending free-agent wide receiver Ashton Dulin, per multiple reports Wednesday.

One of the key depth pieces in the wide receiver room over the last two seasons, Dulin gets another contract with the Colts as a special teams ace and depth receiver.

The news was first reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN while Jeremy Fowler reported the deal is for two years and worth up to $9.2 million.

With Michael Pittman Jr. and Alec Pierce returning as the boundary wide receivers, the Colts will use this offseason to add depth to the room. Dulin will provide that as a WR4 type, but his main contributions come on special teams.

Initially entering the league as an undrafted rookie free agent out of Malone University in 2019, Dulin worked his way up the depth chart quickly. Ever since his rookie season, Dulin has been a mainstay on special teams.

He’s never dipped below a 51% snap share in that phase of the game and has been closer to 60% of the snaps in each of the last three seasons.

Despite missing five games in 2022, Dulin recorded career-best marks in receptions (15) and receiving yards (207).

The Colts still need to add a WR3 to work ahead of Dulin on the depth chart, but he’s the ideal player to round out the room on game days because of his special teams value.
