The Indianapolis Colts signed offensive tackle Blake Freeland to a four-year rookie deal, the team announced Monday.
Freeland, the No. 106 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft, will likely be competing for the swing tackle role during training camp and the preseason.
During his time at BYU, Freeland started two seasons at right tackle and two seasons at left tackle. His athleticism allowed him to work at both positions, which should help his development as a swing tackle behind starters Bernhard Raimann and Braden Smith.
Freeland saw some work with the first-team offense during OTAs when Smith was out with an injury.
Freeland is the most optimistic depth piece in the Colts offensive tackle room and should have the swing tackle role locked up if things go according to plan.
