The Indianapolis Colts signed defensive tackle Ross Blacklock to the practice squad and released S Henry Black from the practice squad, the team announced Tuesday.
Blacklock joining the roster likely indicates that Eric Johnson II will miss some time due to an ankle injury he suffered during the Week 7 loss to the Cleveland Browns.
With Grover Stewart suspended for the next five games due to PED violations, the Colts desperately need some depth at the one-technique spot.
A second-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft by the Houston Texans, Blacklock has appeared in 41 career games (three starts). He spent two seasons in Houston (2020-2021) before he was traded to the Minnesota Vikings just before the start of the 2022 season.
Blacklock was waived before the 2023 season and signed to the Jacksonville Jaguars practice squad. He was released Monday, Oct. 23.
During his career, Blacklock has recorded 38 tackles (26 solo), 3.0 sacks, five tackles for loss and eight quarterback hits.
