As part of roster cutdowns, the Indianapolis Colts are reportedly waiving running back Demetric Felton, according to Joel Erickson of the Indy Star.
All teams must have their initial 53-man rosters set by 4:00 PM ET on Tuesday, August 27th. If Felton goes unclaimed on waivers he will become a free agent and can sign with any team.
Felton was originally with the Chicago Bears at the start of training camp but was released. He was then claimed off waivers by the Colts following their first preseason game against Denver.
At that time, the Colts found themselves thin at running back with Trey Sermon exiting that game with a hamstring injury and undrafted rookie Trent Pennix suffering a groin injury.
Felton would appear in the Colts’ final two preseason games, totaling 57 yards on four carries with a touchdown. Of Felton’s 57 yards on the ground, 40 came on a single touchdown run against the Bengals.
He would also catch two passes for eight yards and played six total special teams snaps.
Felton was a sixth-round pick by Cleveland in 2021 out of UCLA. Felton has appeared in 24 regular season games in his NFL career, making his greatest impact as a versatile pass catcher out of the backfield. He also has some return experience as well.
The Colts have now reportedly made 14 roster cuts. That means 24 still remain.
