The Indianapolis Colts got plenty of help moving up the 2023 NFL draft order through their bye week from the teams slotted ahead of them in Week 14.
Entering the bye week with the No. 9 overall pick, the Colts moved up two spots and have a chance to move up even further depending on how the Monday night game goes between the Arizona Cardinals and New England Patriots.
The Colts hold the No. 7 overall pick in the draft after two teams (Rams and Jaguars) both pulled off upsets to move the Colts up. Now, Indy needs the Cardinals to do the same against the Patriots on Monday night in order to move up to No. 6 overall, according to Tankathon.
The next four games for the Colts will obviously determine where they eventually sit in the draft. But it will be interesting how they get there. Three of those games are against teams with winning records, but they are much closer in competition to the New York Giants (Week 17) and Houston Texans (Week 18) than they are the Minnesota Vikings (Week 15) and Los Angeles Chargers (Week 16).
Two of those games will be in nationally televised slots against the Vikings and Chargers.
There is a lot of time before the draft arrives, and the Colts still need to make their decisions on the front office and coaching staff before truly diving into the scouting process.
But the Colts seem to be well on their way to securing a top-10 pick and could approach the top-five selections if no upsets take place.
