The Indianapolis Colts announced on Tuesday morning that they signed cornerback Kelvin Joseph to the practice squad.
The team had an opening here after they signed defensive tackle Adam Gotsis to the 53-man roster, taking the place of defensive end Tyquan Lewis, who was placed on injured reserve.
This is Joseph’s second stint with the Colts’ practice squad this season. Following the news early on that JuJu Brents was being placed on injured reserve and Chris Lammons was being signed from the practice squad to the active roster, the Colts added Joseph to the practice squad at that time as the corresponding move.
However, after two weeks there, the Colts released Joseph from the practice squad just last week, in order to make room after signing a pair of defensive linemen.
Joseph is a former second-round by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2021 NFL draft. He’s also played for Miami and Seattle as well.
A boundary cornerback, Joseph has played 353 defensive snaps in his career, which includes only 21 in the most recent 2023 season. For his career in coverage, Joseph has allowed 21 completions on 35 targets at 15.0 yards per catch with four pass breakups.
In addition to the depth of the Colts defensive line room being tested, so is the cornerback position. With Brents on injured reserve, the Colts were also without Kenny Moore this past Sunday.
Joseph rejoins a practice squad that already has Gregory Junior, Jaylin Simpson, and David Long at the cornerback position.
