The Indianapolis Colts didn’t announce any practice squad elevations ahead of their Sunday night matchup with the Minnesota Vikings.
Each team can make up to two practice squad elevations each week to the game-day roster. In most instances, these moves are made when there is a position group or two dealing with injuries.
So, with the Colts not making any elevations this week, what does that potentially tell us about Sunday’s game?
Well, this is typically good news in the sense that the Colts are relatively healthy. On the final Friday injury report, they have only two players with designations, although they are two key starts.
Indianapolis has already ruled out left tackle Bernhard Raimann, while defensive end Kwity Paye is questionable.
Without Raimann, we will likely see rookie Matt Goncalves get the start at left tackle, with Blake Freeland providing depth off the bench. One difference from past weeks is that Danny Pinter may be active, just to provide additional offensive line depth.
The fact that the Colts didn’t elevate another defensive end doesn’t provide us with much insight into what Paye’s status will be. For one, getting DeForest Buckner back last week helped bolster the defensive line depth, not to mention that defensive end is a position of depth on the 53-man roster, with six players at that position group.
Inactives will come out 90 minutes before kickoff, at which time we will learn if Paye is available or not.
