The Indianapolis Colts are making sure they know exactly who they want as the next head coach, which reportedly may lead to a rare third round of interviews.
While the organization has nearly concluded what is supposed to be the “finalist” round of interviews this week, of which a whopping eight candidates took part in, there’s a chance a third round of meetings will take place.
According to Mike Garafolo of NFL Network, the third round of interviews would include a smaller group of candidates.
The #Colts are nearly done with their second round of head coaching interviews and are considering a rare Round 3 as well, sources tell me and @RapSheet. If they go that route, they’d pare down the list to a select few finalists before making their decision on their next HC.

It has been an exhausting process thus far, and general manager Chris Ballard is putting a new definition to “leaving no stone unturned.” We can hardly blame him, though, considering he’s fired if this next head coach doesn’t pan out.
The other candidates who have received a second interview include:
- Colts interim HC Jeff Saturday
- Denver Broncos DC Ejiro Evero
- Los Angeles Rams DC Raheem Morris
- New York Giants DC Wink Martindale
- Cincinnati Bengals OC Brian Callahan
- Green Bay Packers STC Rich Bisaccia
- Philadelphia Eagles OC Shane Steichen
- Detroit Lions DC Aaron Glenn
