Colts claim OT Luke Tenuta off waivers

The Indianapolis Colts claimed offensive tackle Luke Tenuta off the waiver wire from the Buffalo Bills and released cornerback Tony Brown, the team announced Wednesday.

Tenuta was the only successful claim the Colts made following final roster cuts. General manager Chris Ballard wouldn’t say if they made other claims during his press conference Wednesday.

Tenuta, 6-foot-9 and 322 pounds, was a sixth-round pick with the Bills in the 2022 NFL draft. Despite that size, the Virginia Tech product has 32 7/8-inch arms. Failing to meet the 34-inch arm threshold for tackles is something the Colts have been content about overlooking if they like a player enough.

Tenuta will round out the roster and the depth on the offensive line. It’s likely he will be competing for a spot as the backup right tackle behind starter Braden Smith.

Brown is somewhat of a surprise cut as a corresponding move. There’s a chance he returns, but the Colts now have a cornerback room with five players, including undrafted rookie Dallis Flowers.
