Colts add to CB position in The Athletic’s recent 2025 NFL mock draft

With the Indianapolis Colts on their bye week, let’s take a brief look ahead to the 2025 NFL draft.

In a recent mock draft from The Athletic’s Dane Brugler–one of the best in the business–he had the Colts bolstering their cornerback position in the first round.

With the 15th pick, the Colts selected East Carolina cornerback Shavon Revel. Brugler would note that at 6-2 – 200 pounds and with 4.3 speed, Revel is the type of athlete that GM Chris Ballard covets.

Of note, Revel is coming off a torn ACL, but Brugler adds that if team doctors at the NFL combine are confident in where he is at in the rehab process, Revel can still be in the “top-25 mix” come April.

Due to the ACL injury, Revel only appeared in three games this season, but was off to a very fast start, allowing only eight completions on 21 targets with two interceptions and two pass breakups.

During the 2023 season, Revel’s first as a starter, he allowed a completion rate of just 44.2 percent, 13.2 yards per catch, and recorded 10 pass breakups along with one interception. His passer rating when targeted was only 61.2.

In addition to grading out as one of PFF’s best cover corners, Revel received high marks against the run as a well, and has been a very reliable tackler.

The emergence of Samuel Womack this season coupled with the growth of Jaylon Jones has helped provide stability to the Colts’ cornerback room–a position group that had a number of question marks coming to the season.

However, looking ahead to the 2025 offseason, at the bare minimum, the depth of this unit will have to be bolstered, not to mention that competition would still be a good thing to have. Currently, the Colts’ defense ranks 26th in yards per pass attempt allowed.
