A Shallow Quake Keeps Tolima on Alert

The strongest tremor in a days-long sequence hit at 1:38 a.m. local time on Saturday, according to the Servicio Geológico Colombiano (SGC). The agency classified the event as shallow, with a depth under 30 kilometers, and listed Chaparral as its reference point — though, per El Tiempo's reporting of the SGC bulletin, the precise 17-kilometer distance figure belongs to the neighboring town of Roncesvalles.
