England will face Colombia in Saturday’s Women’s World Cup quarter-final after the South Americans beat Jamaica.
In a tightly-contested last-16 match devoid of clear openings, Colombia scored the only goal of a 1-0 win when veteran Catalina Usme netted from Ana Maria Guzman’s precise pass six minutes after the break.
Colombia progress to their first Women’s World Cup quarter-final, where they face Sarina Wiegman’s Lionesses, who scraped past Nigeria via a penalty shootout following yesterday’s goalless draw.
Ranked 25th in the world, Colombia finished top of Group H after beating South Korea 2-0 and stunning Germany 2-1, before losing to eventual group runners-up Morocco.
The quarter-final between England and Colombia kicks off at 11:30am BST at Stadium Australia in Sydney on Saturday.

In the other last-16 game on Tuesday, Eugenie Le Sommer netted a brace to lead France to a 4-0 victory over debutants Morocco.
Kadidiatou Diani's fourth goal of the tournament, a header in the 15th minute, sparked an eight-minute three-goal Les Bleues blitz, with Kenza Dali and Le Sommer also scoring at Hindmarsh Stadium to end Morocco's fairytale run.
