Colm Meaney beams as he poses for pic with staff in Dublin restaurant

Irish star Colm Meaney delighted staff in a Dublin restaurant on Friday when he popped in for a meal.

The 69-year-old Dublin actor, who has starred in the musical-comedy drama film The Commitments, domestic comedy The Snapper, and 1930s era crime drama Marlowe, was spotted at Fade Street Social Restaurant and Cocktail Bar last night in Dublin 2.

Fade Street Social's manager Joseph McColgan shared with Dublin Live a pic of the beaming actor with its staff during his visit to the popular restaurant on Friday evening.

Meaney recently starred alongside former footballer Peter Crouch in the latest advertising campaign by Paddy Power for the Cheltenham horse racing festival, which is a hilarious 'Gangs of New York' inspired ad. In the advert, Irishman Meaney comes face-to-face with ex-England International Peter Crouch at the gates of the hallowed racetrack in the advert.

The Irish have dominated in recent years, something which Meaney alludes to when he calls it Ireland's patch. Crouch and his English bretheran fire back cheeky insults of their own in a good natured spot of banter.

Things get serious however when Shaun Williamson (Barry from Eastenders) pops up and makes fun of Tayto crisps. Thankfully, tensions cool down with both Meaney and Crouch standing side by side as they welcome fans to the famous course.

More recently Meaney starred alongside Liam Neeson in crime drama Marlowe, which is set in 1930s Hollywood, Neeson stars as private detective Phillip Marlowe, who is hired to track down the ex-lover of a wealthy heiress (Diane Kruger).
