ESPN’s “College GameDay” has decided what college campus it is going to for Week 4 of the 2024 college football season. The GameDay crew plans to attend the Tennessee Volunteers at Oklahoma Sooners game on Saturday, Sept. 21 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
The Tennessee-Oklahoma game will be Oklahoma’s first SEC game since the Sooners joined the conference this year, so you know Oklahoma fans will be fired up. Tennessee (3-0) is ranked No. 7 and Oklahoma (3-0) is ranked No. 13 in the US LBM Coaches Poll.
Last week, GameDay went to the LSU at South Carolina game, which ended up being arguably the top game of Week 3. The Georgia at Kentucky game ended up being more interesting than most folks predicted, but ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit explained that GameDay did not attend the Georgia-Kentucky game after the Wildcats’ rough loss in Week 2.
Other top games in Week 4 include USC at Michigan, Utah at Oklahoma State, and NC State at Clemson. Conference play is getting started up, so there aren’t as many mismatches this week.
GameDay will almost certainly attend the Georgia at Alabama game in Week 5 on Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m. ET. Both Georgia and Alabama have a bye in Week 4. Georgia and Alabama are both 3-0 and ranked in the top five.
Three of Georgia’s best games (at Ole Miss, at Alabama and at Texas) this season are on the road. GameDay could end up attending all three of these games.
Georgia hosts Tennessee later in the season on Nov. 16. Georgia fans will be interested to see how Tennessee performs on the road against Oklahoma.
If the Volunteers do well, then it would make it more likely for GameDay to attend the Georgia-Tennessee game in Athens this November.
