The eyes of the college football world were on Eugene, Oregon, on Saturday afternoon as No. 19 Colorado faced its toughest test of the young season against No. 10 Oregon.
However, observers who were hoping for a competitive matchup came away disappointed after the Ducks (4-0) raced out to a 35-point halftime lead en route to a 42-6 victory.
It was a humbling setback for the Buffaloes (3-1), who had captivated fans nationwide with as much swagger as any team in recent memory. The result also provided validation for the Ducks, who clearly took the Buffs’ challenge seriously.
Despite the Ducks’ being favored by three touchdowns by oddsmakers, the college football world wasn’t expecting such a lopsided score.
Sports figures and pundits weighed in afterward on social media, and here are some of the best reactions:
Oregon is very disrespectful

Idk if some ppl know this but this lopsided game won’t stop the support for Deion and this Colorado program. Deion is good for college football

The Oregon Ducks seem to have been somewhat fired up to make a statement about the hype surrounding Coach Prime’s football team.

This is @DeionSanders and @CUBuffsFootball first loss. What they’ve accomplished is already amazing. I know they’ll do more. Any true football fan knows that these big time games start in the trenches & that’s also the hardest part of your team to fortify. Let’s not grace on a…

Colorado has been the story and is a good team. This was a tough test today and measuring stick. They aren’t there yet but they have Prime. Oregon is a legit playoff contender. Tough one this week.

we don’t have to be weird about Colorado on either side. they’ve already exceeded expectations and been a really fun story in CFB, but were always going to struggle against teams with better depth and trench players based on their roster makeup/turnover this season.

There is nothing wrong with Dan Lanning’s approach or intensity for HIS team. His job is to motivate HIS players, prop up HIS program and people are LOVING IT. Well that’s exactly what Coach Prime is doing for Colorado, so why do people hate it?

Y’all aren’t keeping it real though.
— Torrey Smith (@TorreySmithWR) September 23, 2023
Colorado exceeded expectations so far. Oregon has a better roster right now. There is a reason they were 21 point favorites.
The power, leadership, and confidence of Coach Prime makes you never doubt him. He has talked about not being all…
We got our ass whooped… Good stuff Oregon.

We’ll NEVER let a loss make us forget who we are. We still gone turn up & we still gone do it our way. So rejoice & take advantage of us while we in this position - I expect nothing less.
Just Remember, We gone get up
