Colorado head coach Deion Sanders’s stance on the Michigan sign-stealing scandal struck a nerve with college football fans on social media Tuesday afternoon.
During his weekly press conference on Tuesday, Sanders stated that even if one team knows an opponent’s plays in football, it still must find a way to defend those plays.
“Everyone’s trying to get an edge. You can have someone’s whole game plan. They could mail it to you, but you still gotta stop it,” said Sanders. “You still gotta play the game.”
While many believe stealing signs is cheating in all sports, Sanders who was a two-sport sport star playing in both the NFL and MLB, believes sign-stealing is more of an advantage in baseball.
“In football it's not as pronounced as baseball. If I know a curve ball is coming, then I got you,” added Sanders. “With football I don’t give a damn if you know a sweep is coming, you still have to stop it. It’s a physical game, you still have to stop it.”

Exactly. Ain’t no difference. It’s just scouting. Same way in practice when the defense knows what play you bout to run, they still gotta stop it and you still gotta execute 🤷🏾♂️ https://t.co/RYsl3PzfZG

So none of the Coaches care about the Michigan thing. That should say a lot. https://t.co/Rh2rSkz8Fq

The funniest part about this play is that Michigan players point to the sky, presumably calling a pass.

But it didn't matter because Ohio State still threw a TD.
As Deion Sanders said, "You can have someone’s whole game plan, they can mail it to you, you still gotta stop it." https://t.co/ol3ObgLrWM
