The collapse of a carriage horse in New York City during rush hour has reignited calls for the antiquated mode of transport to be banned.

Onlookers were horrified to see a carriage horse collapse and buckle at the knees in midtown Manhattan, at 45 St and 9th Avenue, on Wednesday evening.
