According to FOX Sports’ Colin Cowherd, former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick could be eyeing three teams as potential coaching destinations in 2025.
The legendary coach parted ways with the Patriots back in January and interviewed for the Atlanta Falcons job. However, Atlanta passed on the six-time Super Bowl-winning coach and hired Raheem Morris instead.
That missed opportunity left Belichick out in the cold for the 2024 coaching cycle. But there’s hope he could make a big comeback next year with possibly more options on the table.
“The Belichick list from what I’ve heard are three teams: Philadelphia, Dallas and Buffalo,” Cowherd said on “The Herd with Colin Cowherd.” “I’ve heard two things about Belichick, and I trust my sources on this.
“He would rather stay out east. He’s got his place in Nantucket. He golfs down in Jupiter, Florida. Bill doesn’t have any interest in moving everybody out west. The second thing, he would like the quarterback situation to be stable. The instability post-Brady was his downfall.”

The Bills are the most interesting team on Cowherd’s list considering Belichick would be going to a division rival in that situation.
“[With Buffalo] he could also come back and rub it in the Patriots’ face. We know Belichick can hold grudges,” said Cowherd. “You don’t think he wants to face the Patriots twice a year and rub it in Robert Kraft’s face? You’re out of your mind.”
If the Bills fail to win more than one playoff game for a fourth straight season, the team might consider moving on from Sean McDermott as head coach.
Josh Allen at quarterback would instantly make Buffalo one of the most coveted jobs on the market. Belichick wouldn’t have to move away far, and he’d have one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
More importantly, he’d have a chance to face Kraft’s Patriots twice a year. An opportunity of that magnitude would surely have the legendary coach licking his chops.
