Coleraine's unbeaten run not the most important thing for Oran Kearney

Coleraine may have stretched their unbeaten run to 11 games with victory over Portadown, but all that matters to boss Oran Kearney is that they picked up another three points.

You have to go back to the start of November for the Bannsiders' last defeat, but Kearney knows unbeaten runs aren't always the be all and end all with wins the most important thing.

"We're not counting and it's news to me from that point of view, the key thing for us is wins," he said.

"I've been on unbeaten runs before where it's littered with draws which is no good to anybody either so for us it's about picking up three points.

"Our focus on Tuesday night was to pick up three points, our focus today was to make sure the three points from Tuesday night became a very valuable three points.

"Whereas if we had drawn or lost today we throw back the points that we won on Tuesday night.

"That was our focus and we're glad that we picked up another win."

The Bannsiders boss praised his side for not pressing the panic button after falling behind to Greg Moorhouse's early goal at The Showgrounds.

They stuck to their task, turning things around by half-time thanks to goals from Rodney Brown, Matthew Shevlin and Conor McKendry before Michael McCrudden wrapped it up with a fourth in the second half.

"To be fair I thought we started really well, we got out of the block well and we looked really dangerous," said Kearney.

'I'm disappointed with the goal we concede. I thought it was a foul. Lyndon's in the air, he gets bumped and if he goes to ground we probably get a free-kick out.

"He's nearly too honest, stays on his feet, and we go 1-0 down.

"But the biggest credit I'll give the boys is that again there was no panic.

"We were good up until the goal and when they scored their goals we got right back on it again. We kept probing and moving the ball and we scored some good goals today.

"I'm just delighted that it's another three points."
