Coleen Rooney addresses rumours she’ll skip I'm A Celebrity trials due to painful health condition

Coleen Rooney has addressed rumours about her appearance on the upcoming season of I’m A Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here.

The 38-year-old TV personality has been a hot topic as fans speculate whether she'll take on the show’s notoriously tough and stomach-churning challenges.

Adding fuel to the speculation, her former rival Rebekah Vardy joined in with a cheeky jab. Vardy shared a throwback photo of herself in the jungle, accompanied by a pigeon emoji—an apparent nod to her infamous "pigeon" remark, where she once likened Rooney to “a pigeon that would s**t on your hair.”

In a rare video shared on her Instagram Story, Rooney finally put the speculation to rest, first addressing her participation on Monday.

She began: “I never do videos like this. A lot of you might have seen and heard, and there’s been a lot of speculation but I can confirm I am going in the jungle.

“You know what, they’ve asked me for so many years now and I’ve always put it off because the kids have been young and there’s been a lot on, but this year I thought you know what, I quite fancy it.

Rooney will appear on the 2024 series of I’m A Celebrity…

“I want to experience something different, do something for myself and meet new people. I’m really looking forward to doing the trials.”

Addressing speculation that she’d be exempt from some trials due to her reactive arthritis, the entrepreneur clarified: “There’s been a lot of news saying I am exempt because of various illnesses. But I can confirm I can do every trial, so I am not excluded from any, and I am looking forward to it.”

The WAG, accustomed to a life of comfort, acknowledged that joining the show would be a “massive change,” especially with outdoor sleeping arrangements and the absence of her usual luxuries.

“But I’m looking forward to having some time to think about things and reflect, which I never have time to do that much because I’m always in mum mode, constantly thinking and planning,” she added.

The mother-of-four shared that she’d made all the necessary arrangements to ensure her sons, Kai, 14, Klay, 10, Kit, eight, and Cass, five, were well taken care of while she’s away, noting this was the main thing she felt “anxious” about.

She admitted: “We’ve done letters to Father Christmas today so they’ll get posted on the way to school tomorrow, which was another thing I wanted to do before I go.

“I am really anxious about leaving the kids, that’s my biggest thing, for weeks and months that’s been on my mind.”

While many stars have their family and friends waiting on the bridge after they get voted out, it appears that she won’t have her husband Wayne Rooney there.

The former footballer, now the manager of Plymouth Argyle in the EFL Championship, will be unable to support her during the show due to his demanding football schedule. His team has matches on November 22, 26, and 30, as well as December 7, 10, and 14.
