Coleen Nolan struggled with self-worth and pushed ex away for loving her too much

Coleen Nolan says she pushed her ex boyfriend away because he loved her "too much".

The Loose Women star - whose last public romance was with boyfriend Michael, who she met on Tinder - opened up about her love life on the ITV show, getting emotional as she discussed past relationships, her self-worth and how it was all linked. Coleen explained to her fellow panellists on the ITV lunchtime show that she got the 'ick' when her ex loved her too hard.

Coleen says she's a big fan of love, but has always given too much in relationships, until her ex came along and treated her well. She inferred that relationship has massively helped her realise her self-worth.

As the panellists discussed if you can ever be too in love, Coleen admitted: "I love love, I love being in love. I fall in love really quickly and then obviously, later on in life, the last three or four years, I've been single and I've always loved them more than they loved me in my relationships. I've always given too much. I've always excused their behaviour.

"I've always excused their faults or their ick. And this time around, I met somebody who loved me probably more than I've ever been loved and I pushed him away a lot because I kept thinking, 'why are you doing that? That's giving me the ick.'"

Coleen also admitted that her self-worth was affected because of the way people treated her.

She added: "It took me such a long time to learn, because I kept going back to the type of guys who didn't love me as much as I loved them - it took me a long time to accept I was worth being love like that.

"I opened myself up to it and said, he loves me because he thinks I'm worth it."

It comes after Coleen admitted she refuses to settle - and wants to find a partner who is completely "right" for her.

As they discussed if there was a stigma to being single in later life, Coleen shared with her fellow panellists: "Obviously I'm romantic and I love love so I'm always open to meeting somebody and falling in love and it's lovely. I won't just meet someone and settle for that because I'm getting older and I might not meet someone else. If it's not right, I don't want it."

Coleen and her ex Michael split quietly in April after meeting on dating app Tinder.

A spokesperson for Coleen said: "Coleen and Michael are no longer together but remain great friends and are on good terms." Sources claimed the "spark fizzled out in the end" for the pair, who were together for just over a year.
