On Saturday night, 25 April, the annual White House Correspondents' Dinner was disrupted by an alleged armed attack at the Washington Hilton. Federal authorities confirmed that a former NASA fellow and Caltech graduate, Cole Tomas Allen, was taken into custody after allegedly opening fire at a security checkpoint.
Allen, 31, once celebrated for his engineering achievements, is now being investigated as a 'lone wolf' attacker. Officials say he sought to target high-ranking members of the Trump administration, including the US President himself.
