Coldplay in Cardiff 2023: Will the Principality Stadium roof be open for the two gigs?

Coldplay bring their Music of the Spheres world tour to Cardiff this week with two nights at the Principality Stadium. The Cardiff gigs are the last leg of the UK shows and then they'll be off to Europe and the USA where they'll continue their sustainable, low-emission shows, where fans can help power the lasers, lights and wristbands that make the shows what they are - more on that, here.

But, the last time they came, the first show at least, it absolutely chucked it down forcing the stadium to close the roof before gig-goers on the second night had the benefit of an open-air gig.

Will the roof be open this time, and what will the weather be like for the next two evenings? We've got that detail for you right here.

Will the roof of the stadium be open?

Yes, the Principality Stadium has confirmed that the roof will be open for the two shows on June 6 and 7.

What's the weather going to be like?

According to the Met Office Cardiff will be fine on Tuesday and Wednesday. It has said: "Cloud will gradually clear through the morning, perhaps slow to clear in some spots, but eventually leaving clear skies and another pleasant day with increasing amounts of warm sunshine. Maximum temperature 21 °C."

While on Tuesday evening: "Plenty of late evening sunshine, though turning cool once the sun goes down. Then another largely dry night with light winds and increasing amounts of cloud moving westwards. Minimum temperature 8 °C."

Wednesday also sees clear skies with plenty of sunshine. Maximum temperature in the day should be 22 °C and only dipping a few degrees in the evening.
