Connecticut State Police recently announced a significant breakthrough in a decades-old cold case, revealing the identity of one of the victims found in a shallow grave almost 50 years ago. Linda Sue Childers was identified as one of the individuals involved in a double homicide that occurred on December 31, 1970, in Ledyard, Connecticut.
The skeletal remains of Childers and another victim were discovered in 1974, nearly three-and-a-half years after the tragic incident took place. Despite the challenges posed by Childers' use of an unverified alias, investigators were able to confirm her identity through meticulous forensic work and collaboration with genetic genealogy experts.
