COIMBATORE: The Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation (Tansidco) is planning to establish a common facility centre (CFC) for aluminium high-pressure die casting at Chinnavedampatti here at an estimated cost of 5.8 crore.
The centre will be the fourth cluster for micro units in Coimbatore. It will be implemented under the common production infrastructure (CPI) scheme of the state government.
Indumathi Nithyanandan, managing director of the Alanz Die Casting Private Limited, the company floated for the project, said the facility would help micro units that could not take orders directly from tier-one and tier-two automobile manufacturers due to lack of infrastructure.
“Currently, we need to rely on private industries to cast aluminium die and later manufacture components in our units. Majority of the CNC machine shops do not have machinery to cast the die,” Indumathi told TOI. “The centre would benefit 65 micro units that aim to become tier-one or tier-two suppliers.”
Detailed project report of the cluster was recently sent to the government for approval. The facility will have a hydraulic die casting machine, trimming press and electrical furnace.
MSME secretary Arun Roy inspected the proposed site for the facility and interacted with the members last week.
General manager of the District Industries Centre B Karthigaivasan said the state government will fund 70% or 2.5 crore of the total 5.8 crore. “The remaining amount shall be borne by the members. They can also take bank loan.”
