Cody Gakpo sent a message to Virgil van Dijk following Liverpool’s Premier League win over Aston Villa.
Goals from Mohamed Salah and Van Dijk fired the Reds into an early 2-0 lead at Villa Park. Ollie Watkins hit back with a header in the second-half, but 18-year-old midfielder Stefan Bajcetic came off the bench to add a third and secure the Reds all three points.
And just over an hour after the full-time whistle in the Midlands, the news broke that Liverpool were in advanced talks with PSV Eindhoven to sign Cody Gakpo
The Reds are keen to bolster their attacking options in the January window.

The ECHO understands that talks between Liverpool and PSV have reached an advanced stage, having significantly stepped up in recent days.
The ECHO also understands the initial fee will be around the £37m figure with add-ons likely to take the deal well past the £40m mark.
And following the game, Van Dijk took to Instagram to celebrate his side’s victory, writing: “Back at it!” and responding to the post, Gakpo, who is an international team-mate of the Dutchman’s, posted clapping and fire emojis.
While replying to Gakpo’s Christmas message from a couple of days ago, Liverpool goalkeeper coach John Achterberg wrote: “Welcome to the club Cody.”
