Cody Gakpo has admitted there is a chance he will remain at PSV this season amid heavy links to Manchester United.
Erik ten Hag has signed Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen and Lisandro Martinez this summer, but the Dutchman is still keen on strengthening United's attacking options, with Cristiano Ronaldo and Anthony Martial the only recognised strikers at the club.
The Manchester Evening News revealed last week that United accept they are "light" up front following the departures of attack-minded players Paul Pogba, Jesse Lingard, Juan Mata and Edinson Cavani. Although United had submitted a bid for Marko Arnautovic, that interest in the player was controversial and deeply unpopular, which was a factor in those talks coming to an end.

There are three weeks remaining in the summer transfer window and United are still searching for attacking reinforcements. Ten Hag has signed three players with Eredivisie pedigree so far and reports suggest he is considering another with PSV's Gakpo.
Gakpo, 23, contributed 21 goals and 15 assists at PSV last season and he has been heavily linked with a move to United. The player was asked about reports linking him with a move away on Tuesday night and he revealed his future could hinge on PSV's qualification for the Champions League.
"We must first focus on and try to make it to the Champions League," Gakpo told ESPN. "Then it is more likely that I will stay. I don't think I have said anywhere that I am leaving, so there is definitely a chance that I will stay. I'm open for a cup of coffee with the management - or coffee for them and water for me. We'll see how it goes."
PSV will play Rangers in the Champions League play-off to decide whether they make the group stage or not.
