Hospitality app Code has announced its annual 30 Under 30 List which champions young achievers in the restaurant and hotel world.
In total, 17 London hospitality professionals make the list, including Abby Lee. The 29-year-old recently moved her modern Malaysian restaurant Mambow to a permanent new home in Clapton, having previously achieved success with a restaurant that opened on Commercial Street in 2020 and pivoted to Nyonya-style meal kits during lockdown. Lee’s regional Malaysian cooking includes dishes such as Sarawak-style coconut ceviche with tamarind granita and chive oil, and red curry and kaffir-lime spiced prawns with wild betel leaf.
Other London 20- and 30-somethings on the list include Alicia Latham, the finance manager of street-food operator Kerb, The Ledbury sous chef April Lily Partridge, Dorian general manager Callum Mash and The Standard hotel’s F&B marketing manager Cameron Malik-Flynn.
The inclusion of Charlotte Shaw, the 27-year-old head housekeeper of The Athenaeum Hotel & Residencies’ on Piccadilly, marks the first time the role has appeared in the list’s eight-year history.
Nominees were selected based on their outstanding achievements, leadership qualities and the impact they have had on the hospitality landscape in the past 12 months. Commenting on the inclusions, Code founder, Adam Hyman, said: "I love publishing our 30 Under 30 each year. It showcases what a rewarding career in hospitality is and what you can achieve at such a young age. It’s exactly what we should be shouting about as an industry to make sure we attract the next generation of people into hospitality.”
