Cocoa Prices Retreat on Year-End Fund Liquidation

March ICE NY cocoa (CCH24) on Friday closed -60 (-1.41%), and Mar ICE London cocoa #7 (CAH24) closed -43 (-1.21%).

Cocoa prices on Friday dropped to 2-week lows and closed moderately lower.   Year-end position squaring and liquidation from funds have weighed on cocoa prices this week.  Friday’s Weekly Commitment of Traders (COT) report showed money managers decreased their net-long London ICE cocoa positions to 59,701 for the week ending Dec 26, a 14-month low.
