Cocoa Prices Fall Back as Dollar Strength Fuels Long Liquidation

Sep ICE NY cocoa (CCU23) on Wednesday closed -30 (-0.59%), and Sep ICE London cocoa #7 (CAU23) closed -2 (-0.08%).

Cocoa prices Wednesday closed moderately lower as a stronger dollar sparked profit-taking and long liquidation in cocoa futures. On Monday, Sep NY cocoa prices posted a new contract high and nearest-futures cocoa (CCN23) posted a 7-1/2 year high. On Tuesday, Sep London cocoa posted a contract high, and nearest-futures (CAN23) posted a record high (data from 1989).
