Coca Cola issues urgent recall on Coke Zero multipacks due to 'health risk'

Coca Cola has issued a recall on one of its popular drinks after it was 'incorrectly packaged' and could lead to a potential health risk for some customers.

The soft drinks manufacturer has had to pull some of its Christmas multipacks of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar as some of them may contain original tasting cans, reports HullLive.

It means that this could potentially pose a health risk to consumers who have to watch their sugar intake with the The Food Standards Agency (FSA) issuing a "don't drink" warning.

The FSA has said that the affected product packs are a multipack of 24 x 330ml cans that are packaged with the Christmas cardboard.

The Coca-Cola Zero Sugar multipacks affected carry the batch codes301WA1, 302WA1, 303WA1, 304WA1, 305WA5, 306WA5, 307WA5 and 308WA5 with a best before date of 31 October 2023 and 30 November 2023.

Point of sale notices have been issued by Coca-Cola to all retail stores to alert customers about the recall and to explain what they need to do if they have bought the product.

Customers are now being urged not to consume the drinks and to contact the Coca-Cola customer care team who will help arrange a replacement order.

Coca-Cola issued a statement that read: "A small number of Coca-Cola Zero Sugar 24 x 330ml multipacks with Christmas cardboard could contain cans of Coca-Cola Original Taste.

"The quality of the drink itself is not affected. If you open one of these Coca-Cola Zero Sugar multipacks and find they contain cans of Coca-Cola Original Taste, p lease call a member of our team on 0800 22 77 11 who will be able to help.

"The safety and quality of our products is of paramount importance. We are sorry that on this occasion a small number of our products have not met our required standards."

Coca-Cola customers can contact the care team on 0800 22 77 11 Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm.
