Coastguard races to help rescue injured hiker after horror fall onto rocks

A rescue team rushed to the aid of a hiker after they were injured in a horror fall onto some rocks.

In a multi-agency rescue mission, coastguard and RNLI crews in Scotland scrambled to the horror fall on Sunday at 1.05pm.

A hiker had sustained injuries after falling from a height and landing on rocks on Killiedraught Bay in Eyemouth.

As the Daily Record reports, the person was provided medical assistance at the scene.

Dramatic images from the rescue mission show rescue teams scrambling through rocks before the casualty is carried by a stretcher onto a nearby beach.

Their current condition is unknown.

A statement from Eyemouth Coastguard reads: "Eyemouth Coastguard along with Berwick Coastguard rescue team were tasked on Sunday to locate a person who had fallen on the rocks and sustained injuries.

"Teams quickly arrived on scene and located the casualty on the Killiedraught bay and provided casualty care.

"RNLI Eyemouth Lifeboat was requested and launched so the casualty could be safely evacuated from the bay back to Eyemouth harbour where the ambulance was awaiting.

"Dunbar Coastguard was also tasked in case the lifeboat was unable to safely remove the casualty but were stood down on route.

"The casualty’s family did exactly the right thing by remembering in an emergency at the coast dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard. We wish the casualty a speedy recovery."
