Coastguard teams were called to Claxheugh Rock in Sunderland after two teenagers became stuck on the cliff.
Sunderland Coastguard Rescue Team and Seaham Coastguard were called out to assist Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service with two teenagers who were stuck on the cliff at Claxheugh Rock in South Hylton.
The coastguard teams managed to locate the two males with assistance from the fire service. One of the boys managed to make his own way to safety while coastguard teams were preparing their rope rescue equipment.

The coastguard teams then lowered their rope rescue technician to the second male and managed to take him to a place of safety. He was then left in the care of Northumbria Police and North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust.
A spokesperson for Sunderland Coastguard Rescue Team said the alert came at 6.15pm on Wednesday evening, adding: "Sunderland Coastguard Rescue Team and Seaham Coastguard were called out to assist Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service with two teenagers who were stuck on the cliff at Claxheugh Rock in South Hylton. With assistance from the fire service, we located the two males.
"Whilst we were preparing our rope rescue equipment, one of the boys made his own way to safety, we lowered our rope rescue technician to the second and recovered him to a place of safety and into the care of Northumbria Police and North East Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. In all coastal emergencies dial 999 and ask for the coastguard."
