Federal environment laws 'won't fix' project backlog

There are fears major environment reforms will do little to tackle a growing backlog of renewable energy projects ahead of a possible deal on the laws.

The federal government is hopeful of reaching an agreement with the coalition or the Greens to get the overhaul of Australia's environmental protections through parliament before Christmas.
