Brisbane defender Ty Gallop faces an anxious wait on the match review officer after a contentious incident in the second quarter of the Lions' heavy win over Port Adelaide at the Gabba.
The emerging Gallop had rolled Mitch Georgiades in a heavy tackle, but while the Power key forward's head did not hit the turf, it was what happened next that raised eyebrows.
As the Lions' swept the ball downfield, Gallop appeared to lift Georgiades by the jumper before slamming him back into the turf head first.
While Georgiades played out the game uninjured, he was returning from an earlier concussion against St Kilda in round 18 after being knocked out in a heavy mid-air collision.
The incident spurred a defensive reaction from both teams' coaches after the match, with Port's Josh Carr saying Gallop's actions were the mark of a team that played its football on the edge.
"It wasn't a great look, but I'm on the other side of it," he said.
"They're a team that plays tough and pushes the limits. We got the free kick, so we got rewarded. There's not much more to say."
Carr said Georgiades was unaffected by the incident after the game.
But the coach's words spurred a response from his counterpart Chris Fagan, who said he hadn't seen the incident.
Asked if he agreed with Carr's assessment that his team played on the edge, Fagan said: "That's his opinion. He's allowed to have it.
"You don't be one of the better teams of the competition if you don't play a hard physical brand.
"That's what we do. I don't think we do it unfairly. I think we brought good pressure today."
Fagan said he had yet to view a replay of the incident.
"It's interesting that Josh has had a chance to watch it; I haven't. He's not as busy as what I am," he said.
Fagan said he was hopeful defender Darcy Gardiner was available next week should Gallop be suspended.
"It's not really up to me; it's up to what the match review mob [and] what they decide," he said.
Carr said acting captain Zak Butters was doing everything possible to return from ankle surgery before the end of the season, in what shapes as his last hurrah for the Power before a speculated return to Victoria next season.
