CM Nitish Kumar tells officials to expedite work on elevated road, Patna-Gaya-Dobhi NH

PATNA: Chief minister (CM) Nitish Kumar visited various locations in Patna district’s southern region on Wednesday via road and inspected ongoing construction work on two mega projects, the Mithapur-Mahuli elevated road and the Patna-Gaya-Dobhi national highway (NH).

During the inspection, Nitish urged officials to expedite the completion of ongoing construction work on both projects.

Accompanied by senior officials from the CM secretariat and the road construction department (RCD), Nitish first made his way to the Mithapur flyover roundabout, where officials briefed him on various aspects of the ongoing work on the Mithapur-Mahuli elevated road via various diagrams. The 8.86-km-long elevated road connecting the south-western flank of the Mithapur flyover to the Ramgovindsingh Mahuli Halt is being built at a cost of Rs 668 crore.

The CM then travelled to Mahuli via Karbigahiya and Sipara to inspect the Patna-Gaya-Dobhi NH’s ongoing construction work. Using diagrams, the RCD officials informed him about various aspects of the NH during the inspection.

Around a month ago, the Patna high court directed the National Highways Authority of India to consider expanding the Patna-Gaya-Dobhi road from four to six lanes.

The CM stated, “Each year, a large number of people flock to Gaya to make ‘pind daan’ offerings to their forefathers and mothers. Visiting Gaya from Patna will be more convenient once the Patna-Gaya-Dobhi NH construction is complete. It will benefit tourists visiting the region.”

At Mahuli, Nitish also spoke with a few residents and inquired about their concerns. He pleaded with the officials to resolve their issues expeditiously.

The CM arrived in Danapur via the Masaurhi-Pitwas-Naubatpur road after inspecting the NH. He inquired about various aspects of the proposed Danapur-Bihta elevated road and told reporters that negotiations with the railways regarding its construction had concluded. “The road will provide greater convenience for people travelling to Bihta,” he added.
