Clydebank shopkeeper attacked by young boy while trying to prevent robbery

Police in Clydebank are appealing for information following a robbery from a premises in the Mountblow Road area.

The incident took place around 4.20pm on Thursday, May 19. At that time, a youth attacked a 61-year-old male staff member and ran from the area with a number of items from the premises.

The staff member suffered minor injuries and was left shaken as a result of the incident.

The suspect is described as being a male, aged between 15-17, with blonde hair. He was wearing a black hoody and grey joggers.

Detective Constable Colin Nichol, from Clydebank CID, said: “This was a particularly distressing incident for the victim, who was attacked for trying to prevent the youth from leaving with stolen goods.

“We are appealing to anyone who was in the Montblow Road area around the time of the robbery and witnessed anything suspicious to please come forward. Equally, if you recognise the description of the youth or have any further information, we are keen to speak with you.”
