Aston Villa fell to a first Champions League defeat of the campaign away at Club Brugge on Wednesday evening, and you can find the full match highlights below.
Villans Beaten By Club Brugge In Champions League
Aston Villa headed into MD4 of the Champions League sitting at the summit of the league phase table as one of two sides to boast a perfect record after three matches, doing so without shipping a single goal.
The Villans have beaten Young Boys, Bayern Munich and Bologna thus far in the competition this term, but came into this one against Club Brugge having failed to win in each of their last three matches across all competitions.
A heavily-rotated side, which included long-term injury absentees Tyrone Mings and Boubacar Kamara, as well as an out-of-form Leon Bailey, meant that chances were few and far between in the first period, with the score level at 0-0 heading into the break.
Just minutes into the second period, the hosts were awarded a penalty, and it came in truly bizarre fashion as Mings picked up the ball after Emiliano Martinez had passed to him from a goal-kick.
Hans Vanaken made no mistake in converting from the spot, sending the home faithful into delirium.
It would turn out to be an incredibly costly error too, as despite the introductions of Jhon Duran, Jacob Ramsey and Emiliano Buendia, Unai Emery’s side were unable to muster up a response.
The game ended 1-0 in favour of the reigning Belgian champions, securing them their second Champions League victory of the campaign, while Villa dropped out of the top four in the league phase table.

As for Club Brugge, their next continental tie is against Celtic in Glasgow in three weeks time, which follows two Belgian Pro League fixtures against Beerschot and Sint-Truidense.
