Fatshark announced that the first closed alpha test for the new 4v4 player vs player plus enemy game mode in Warhammer: Vermintide 2. is now live. This new closed alpha test features the heroes from the Ubersreik Five and Skaven specials. It's running from February 8 to February 11 and available to those who answered the call during the signup period.
This game mode is called as "Versus" and has the Ubersreik Five go against AI enemies and a maximum of 4 player controlled Skaven specials. Teams then switch sides and compete for points over multiple sections and rounds.
In a statement, Warhammer: Vermintide 2 Product Owner Erik Ekström shared that over the years of development they've learned that players both love and care for the game. He added that this is why they want to get their feedback on this new mode during the testing period.
Meanwhile, talking about the new mode, Design Director Joakim Setterberg revealed that it's something that players familiar with the genre are sure to recognize. He went on to say that they wanted to honor the predecessor while putting in their own unique melee-oriented flair to to the mode.
Warhammer: Vermintide 2 is a four-player co-op action game that's set in the world of Warhammer Fantasy Battles. In particular, it serves as the sequel to Vermintide and is the latest addition to a franchise known for its intense and bloody first-person melee combat.
In this one, the five heroes have returned and set to face a threat that's even great than ever, which are the ruinous Chaos army and the swarming Skaven horde. The heroes are now the only ones left standing between victory and defeat.
