Clever heatwave hack to keep your house cool using everyday household item costing just 68p

Brits will be well aware that there is some dangerously hot weather on its way to the UK, with the Met Office issuing a warning for extreme heat and temperatures expected to climb as high as 40°C.

Given that the sweltering temperatures are likely to cause some serious discomfort at best, many will no doubt be trying all the tried-and-tested methods out there in order to keep cool. Luckily, there are some hacks to deploy at home to keep the temperature down indoors.

It’s advised that you keep your windows shut when it’s hotter outside than it is inside - and another recommendation is to draw your curtains to stop the sun getting in. But if you really want to create a cool haven in your house you can take things one step further, North Wales Live reports .

This clever heatwave hack uses a cheap everyday product that you’re likely to already have in your kitchen cupboard. All you need is a roll of kitchen foil - available from virtually any supermarket or corner shop, it costs as little as 68p for a 20m roll from Asda .

If you stick some foil over your windows, the heat-resistant aluminium material will reflect the sun and stop it from getting inside. Foil doesn’t melt until it reaches temperatures of 660°C, so is safe to withstand even the hottest of heatwaves.

This isn’t the only clever heatwave hack that has been shared to help Brits cope with the scorching temperatures. Internet star LadBaby recently shared his own ‘genius’ tip after taking a trip to B&M.

LadBaby, otherwise known as Mark Hoyle, picked up £15 dog cooling mats from the bargain store to lie on in bed. “If it’s good enough for dogs, it’s good enough for me and you,” he joked to his wife Roxanne, who was sceptical at first but soon confirmed that the pet mats were a great way to keep cool.
